Xplorers to be Recognized at Tonight's Riverkings Game

SOUTHAVEN --- The 2005 af2 ArenaCup Champion Memphis Xplorers will be recognized and honored at tonight's (Friday) Memphis RiverKings/Colorado Eagles game at the DeSoto Civic Center. The game starts at 7:05 with doors opening at 6 p.m. Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto and several players will be in attendance at the game and take part in the second intermission ceremony.

On August 27, the Xplorers put the finishing touches on their dream season by defeating the Louisville Fire in the ArenaCup title game in Bossier City, LA. Including the playoffs, the Xplorers won 16 of their 19 games, including 9 of 10 at the DeSoto Civic Center. Their championship was the first pro sports championship in the Mid South since the RiverKings won the second of their back to back titles in 2003.

So far this off-season, a record 11 players from the 2005 Xplorers team have signed to play next season in the AFL. Some of those 11 will be among the players at the RiverKings game tonight. The Xplorers will start defense of their title when the 2006 season opens at Tennessee Valley on April 1.

The Xplorers will defend their Arena Cup Championship in 2006 and you can be in on the action. The season begins on April 1 at Tennessee Valley with the home opener on April 8 versus the Florida Firecats.
