
Xavier Ouellet Reassigned to Griffins

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday reassigned defenseman Xavier Ouellet (ehx-AYV-ee-ehr OO-leht) to the Grand Rapids Griffins from the QMJHL's Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
Ouellet, 19, skated in 50 games with the Armada this season and tied for seventh on the team with 41 points (10-31-41). Born in Bayonne, France, but raised in Canada, Ouellet represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, this season, notching a goal and two assists in six contests. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman also racked up 16 points (7-9-16) in 15 postseason games. In 223 career QMJHL contests, Ouellet has tallied 160 points (41-119-160) and 177 penalty minutes.
After evening their best-of-five Western Conference Quarterfinal series at one game apiece with a 3-2 win on Sunday, the Griffins will return to Van Andel Arena to host the Houston Aeros for Game 3 on Wednesday, Game 4 on Friday and, if necessary, Game 5 on Saturday.
