Austin Wranglers News Release
AUSTIN-The Austin Wranglers announced today that the franchise will remain a part of the AFL family and will celebrate its fifth year of Arena Football in Austin by fielding a team in arenafootball2 (af2) in 2008. The move received approval by both the AFL and af2 Board of Directors, assuring that arena football fans throughout Central Texas will have access to high quality football and a first class gameday experience for years to come.
The Austin Wranglers also announced an extension of the team's lease agreement with The University of Texas for home games to continue to be played at the Frank Erwin Center. Details of the agreement were not released, but both parties agreed that the objective is to provide the team with the opportunity to be a sustainable presence in Central Texas for the foreseeable future.
"We remain committed to being a team that the Central Texas region is proud of on and off the field," said Austin Wranglers Owner Doug MacGregor. "To that end, we have worked in concert with Frank Erwin Center management to create new premium seating sections for fans and to provide a special experience for our corporate partners.
In addition, I have charged our staff with continuing the work of the Austin Wranglers Foundation in its effort to utilize all of the team's assets to have a positive impact on youth throughout Central Texas, and to maintain our partnerships with other non-profit and charitable organizations in our community."
The team also announced partnership agreements with IBC Bank, StubHub, Austin Community College, IHOP, AMERIGROUP, and Feather Bay Land Development, and an on-going partnership with AM1300 The Zone for clearance of Austin Wranglers radio broadcasts.
"The response from season ticket-holders and corporate partners has been tremendous over the last few weeks," said Austin Wranglers General Manager Kent Koen. "We are also appreciative of our partnership with AM1300 The Zone and Clear Channel Radio. The Zone has been with the Wranglers every year of the team's existence, and continues to provide the best sports programming in Central Texas and an affordable way for businesses to reach the sports consumer."
