Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The Arena Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Storm wide receiver Prechae Rodriguez is a finalist for the 2012 National Guard Community MVP.

Each week during the 2012 season, the AFL spotlighted a player who not only contributed on the field, but made an effort to go above and beyond to make a difference in the community. Fans will have the opportunity to vote for the National Guard Community MVP of the Year, the League office announced today.

"We are always proud when any member of our team is recognized for making an impact in the community," said team president Derrick Brooks. "Prechae embodies what we are looking for in a player with the Storm and in the Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment organization. He represents the values we believe in, helping us build stronger ties in the community as we grow together."

Rodriguez was an active member in reaching out to the youths of the Tampa Bay community, whether it was talking to student-athletes about the importance education, spending time being active with kids or participating in camps teaching youths about the finer points of football.

A native of Tampa Bay area, Rodriguez graduated from Jefferson H.S. (Tampa) and Auburn University. He began his professional career in the Canadian Football League where he was named the 2008 East Division Most Outstanding Rookie.

This season was his first in the AFL. Rodriguez finished the season with 125 receptions for 1,653 yards and 32 touchdowns. His receptions tied the franchise single-season record and his yardage set the mark for a rookie receiver.
