July 31, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - Six multi-position players have been named to the 2012 Arena Football League All-Ironman Team, the League office announced today.

Headlining the group for the second consecutive year is 2011 J. Lewis Small Ironman of the Year, Pittsburgh Power WR/KR PJ BERRY (6-0, 200, Virginia State). Berry broke his own single-season AFL record for kickoff returns, finishing the year with 111 and leading the AFL in all-purpose yards for the second straight year with 2,024. Berry played five different positions for the Power in 2012, including quarterback, receiver, kick returner, running back and defensive back, winning the J. Lewis Small Ironman of the Week award three weeks in a row.

Jacksonville Sharks WR/DB TERRANCE SMITH (6-2, 200, South Carolina State) was named to his first All-Ironman Team in his second season in the League. Smith played defensive back for the ArenaBowl XXIV champions in 2011, but transitioned to receiver and kick returner for the 2012 season. He set single-season franchise records for kickoff return yards (1,637), missed field goal return yards (52) and combined kick return yards (1,689) as a return man and tallied 1,158 yards and 29 touchdowns as a receiver. He also played defensive back for the final two games of the regular season.

Spokane Shock DB/KR TERRANCE SANDERS (5-10, 180, Eastern Illinois) earned his first All-Ironman nod in 2012 after setting single-season franchise records for interceptions (8), missed field goal return yards (80), kickoff return yards (1,595) and combined kick return yards (1,675) in just 14 games. Sanders also totaled 82.5 tackles in 12 games as a defensive back.

Earning his third consecutive All-Ironman Team selection, Philadelphia Soul WR/KR JEFF HUGHLEY (5-8, 175, Averett) set single-season franchise records for kickoff return and combined kick return yards (1,865) in his first year with the Soul. Hughley collected 77 passes for 1,001 yards and 19 touchdowns as a receiver and tallied 24.5 tackles on defense and special teams.

A throwback to the AFL's original Ironman format, Milwaukee Mustangs WR/LB MARCUS EVERETT (6-1, 200, UCLA) rarely left the field in 2012. On the offensive side of the ball, Everett totaled 20 receptions for 225 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with two rushes for 22 yards and a score. Defensively, he returned nine interceptions for 131 yards and three touchdowns, the second-highest single-season total in AFL history. This is Everett's first All-Ironman Team selection.

Kansas City Command rookie WR/KR JACKIE CHAMBERS (5-10, 190, Lane) rounds out the 2012 All-Ironman Team. In 12 games, Chambers returned 56 kicks for 1,163 yards and two touchdowns.
