WR Jared Jenkins Headed to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze added to its receiving corps today with the announcement that former Milwaukee Mustangs WR Jared Jenkins has been assigned to the 2013 roster. Jenkins was a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year honors after a sensational performance in his augural campaign.
"Jared had phenomenal production as a rookie, but I think he can be even better in his second season," said Head Coach Ron James. "He has excellent size and a reliable set of hands, but his enthusiasm and approach to the game are what really set him apart. I know Jared is excited to be here, and we're definitely excited to have him."
Jenkins (6-4, 220, Wisconsin-Stevens Point) burst onto the scene in 2012 as a rookie with the Milwaukee Mustangs. In his first AFL season, he started all 18 games and hauled in 119 passes for 1,610 yards and 34 touchdowns while adding 31 yards on five rushing attempts. Also a standout on special teams, Jenkins delivered 11.5 tackles (11 solo) with one fumble recovery and gained 39 yards on nine kickoff returns.
Prior to joining the Arena Football League, Jenkins spent the 2011 NFL preseason with the Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.
Jenkins was a two-time Division II All-American and three-time All-WIAC choice during his collegiate career at Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He saw action in 40 games over his four-year tenure with the program and shattered the school record with 3,632 receiving yards. Jenkins also placed second in school history with 273 receptions and 34 touchdown catches.
