Published on March 31, 2010 under Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) News Release
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 31, 2010) - Women's Professional Soccer today unveiled enhancements to womensprosoccer.com including the WPS Fantasy Challenge, as well as comments and ratings on news articles.
The WPS Fantasy Challenge allows fans to test their knowledge of WPS players while competing in leagues against friends, family and fans for bragging rights.
It is the first-ever Fantasy Game for women's soccer. Great prizes - including PUMA gear and player-autographed items - are on the line for season-long winners, while weekly prizes will also be awarded. Fans must manage their roster to stay under the $10 million team budget, while seeking to maximize the points they accumulate each week based upon how their selected players perform in actual WPS games. The WPS Fantasy Challenge is powered by STATS LLC, the world's leading sports information provider, and the Official Statistician of WPS. To sign up and for more information, fans can access fantasy.womensprosoccer.com.
"We want soccer fans and league followers to go out and play the role of WPS coach and GM this season," says Karyn Lush, WPS Head of New Media. "It's a great way to follow the players, games and teams all season with a rooting interest no matter where you live."
Fans are also now able to comment upon and rate news articles on the womensprosoccer.com network.
Fans are encouraged to share their views on WPS match previews and reports, player profiles and columns by first registering for a username at womensprosoccer.com.
The commenting and rating functionality is driven by Pluck's social media platform. Pluck is part of the Demand Media Network.
