Short Summary

Despite Springfield clinching the No. 1 seed for Sunday's final, Orange County grabbed the upper-hand in the preview of the 2021 WTT Finals Presented by Guaranteed Rate on Saturday. The Breakers claimed four out of five sets to collect a nine-point win over Springfield. Austin Krajicek & Coachella Valley native Desirae Krawczyk, who capped off her third Major mixed doubles title with the US Open championship earlier this year, defeated US Open mixed doubles finalists Marcelo Arevalo & Giuliana Olmos in the final set that allowed Orange County to end the regular season in victory.

Notes

Orange County picked up its first win over Springfield this season. Springfield won the season series 2-1.

Springfield owns the tiebreaker over Orange County, making the Lasers the No. 1 seed in Sunday's final.

Three of the four players in the mixed doubles set were US Open mixed doubles finalists this year (Krawczyk-Won, Arevalo, Olmos)

Short Summary

New York came out of the gates strong with a win in men's doubles and Kirsten Flipkens obtaining a victory in women's singles, only dropping one game in the process. San Diego, however, responded with two tie-break wins in mixed doubles and women's doubles to cut New York's deficit 18-15 heading into the final set. Although San Diego's Aleks Vukic forced a tie-break in men's singles, 2014 NCAA singles champion from UCLA Marcos Giron finished it off for New York with his victory.

The Springfield Lasers look to capture their third WTT championship in the last four years against Coachella Valley native and three-time Major mixed doubles champion, Desirae Krawczyk, and the Orange County Breakers on Sunday at 3 p.m. Orange County looks for its first title since 2017 and its third in franchise history. The mixed doubles set on Sunday will feature three of the four US Open mixed doubles finalists from this year, which includes Marcelo Arevalo, Giuliana Olmos and the champion Krawczyk.

All World TeamTennis matches will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Tickets are available for purchase online at wtt.com/tickets-2021. Due to requirements set by the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, all fans in attendance will need valid proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to enter the grounds for WTT matches.
