World Record Holder Dave Davlin To Perform "Bounce" Show at Flame Game This Friday
March 20, 2006 - NBA G League (G League)
Florida Flame News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla., March 20 - Guiness World Record holder Dave "Travelin" Davlin will make a special appearance this Friday, March 24 at Germain Arena, as the Florida Flame host the Roanoke Dazzle on Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Night. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
Davlin will perform his widely popular "Bounce" show at halftime for all fans in attendance. "Bounce" features amazing basketball wizardry and hilarious audience participation stunts from Davlin, who set the world record in 1990 by spinning 12 basketballs on his body at one time. The show is capped off by Dave sharing about the importance of believing in one's self and using one's talents while finding the courage to overcome the pressure to use drugs.
Davlin has performed around the world in places such as Cairo, Egypt; Puerto Rico; and the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. In addition, Davlin has performed for various NBA teams including the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, Seattle Supersonics, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards and the New Jersey Nets.
For many years, Davlin has worked in conjunction with Upward Basketball, a dynamic sports outreach ministry reaching youth and partnering with churches to lead the way in children's sports evangelism in local communities, nationally, and internationally. Over 300 Upward Basketball and Cheerleading kids, coaches, and staff members representing 33 local Southwest Florida teams will be in attendance on March 24.
Although Upward Basketball's two main focuses are ministering and outreach, it is about children. There is a separate league for boys and girls and is designed for first through sixth grades. Children are taught how to play basketball and given an equal opportunity to play. They leave with a stronger self-esteem and feel like winners because they are given equal opportunity for improvement and are recognized for their achievement after each and every game.
Tickets for this special event are available at the Germain Arena box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-4-NBA-TIX. Special group rates are also available by contacting the Flame at 877-FLAME-TIX.
The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Orlando Magic. Showcasing the best young talent in professional basketball outside of the NBA, the Flame play a 48-game schedule during the 2005-06 season with 23 home games at Germain Arena. Led by a group of local investors, the Flame is now in its second season of providing affordable, family entertainment to sports fans throughout Southwest Florida.
