World Cup Comes To Rochester

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced that Rochester has been selected as a host city for this month's indoor World Cup. The game will feature Brazil vs. Russia on Monday, March 23 at 7:00 pm at the War Memorial at the Blue Cross Arena. The players selected by their respective national teams, represent their country as they play against the best indoor players in the world. The Lancers front office has been selected to manage the event.
The tournament kicks off March 21 and will feature a total of 18 group stage games in seven different cities around the United States. This will be a first of its kind event ever to be hosted in Rochester. The groups are as follows.

USA Mexico Canada
Czech Republic Romania Russia
El Salvador India Brazil
Kazakhstan Germany Serbia
The Brazilian roster will feature a familiar face. Lancers leading goal scorer and Team Captain, Mauricio Salles has been selected to represent his national team for Brazil and will play on March 21.
"To play for my home country is amazing" said Salles. "However, to also play in front of my home fans in Rochester is even more special."
Lancers goalkeeper Joey Kapinos was also selected to play in the tournament and will represent the United States.
