Rochester Lancers News Release

(Baltimore, MD) - The Rochester Lancers traveled to Baltimore to take on the Blast Wednesday night in the Eastern Division finals. In a tightly contested match, the Blast overcame a late deficit to win at home 6-4, ending the Lancers season.

The game got off to a slow start as only Baltimore's Diego Zuniga was able to find the net. His goal put the Blast up at the 11:57 mark off an assist from Neto. The tally was Zuniga's 13th goal of the season and at the end of the first the Blast led 2-0.

The Lancers tied the game to start the second frame as Mauricio Salles, the leading point scorer for the Lancers, scored at the 1:49 mark. Minutes later Rookie Brad Vanino recorded a goal that gave the Lancers their first lead of the night. The Blast answered when Pat Healey scored on a goal set up by Adriano Dos Santos. At the half the Blast and Lancers were tied 4-4.

In the second half the fast paced action continued. After a Lancer penalty the Blast were able to take advantage of a power play when Tony Donatelli, the Blast's top point getter, recorded his 18th goal of the season giving the Blast a 6-4 lead after three quarter of play.

The high intensity generated by both teams for much of the match continued during the fourth quarter. The Blast defense, however held the Lancers scoreless in the quarter and sealed the victory to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals by a final score of 6-4.
