Manchester Wolves News Release

QB Kyle Rowley completed 19 of 23 passes for 150 yards and six touchdowns en route to a 59-45 Manchester Wolves win over the Albany Conquest Saturday night on Brady Sullivan Field at Verizon Wireless Arena in front of 6,264 fans.

OS Steve Gonzalez was Rowley's main target, as he hauled in 11 passes for 96 yards and five touchdowns. Gonzalez also collected 127 yards on five kick returns, including his first kickoff return for a touchdown this season, a 56-yard second quarter jaunt that put the Wolves up 18-14, a lead they would not relinquish.

The Wolves' (2-1) defense proved its merit once again, holding the Conquest (2-2) scoreless on five different drives. DS William Haith made 12 tackles, one shy of his franchise record. Manchester, who recorded 12 sacks all of last season, collected three sacks, their first of 2006.

Manchester swept the post-game awards. Gonzalez brought home the Schutt MVP and Cutters Catch of the Game, while Haith was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Game and Mark Kimener was tabbed the U.S. Army Ironman after his three-tackle, one-sack performance on defense and pair of rushing touchdowns on offensive.

Conquest QB Ryan Vena completed 28 of 47 for 298 yards and five touchdowns, but threw a pair of interceptions. WR/LB Manwell Talbert caught 11 passes for 107 yards and four touchdowns for the Conquest.

The Wolves' win was their fourth consecutive over Albany.
