
Wolves To Select John McFarland First Overall In OHL Priority Selection On Saturday

The Sudbury Wolves in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League today announced that John McFarland of Richmond Hill, Ontario will be taken number one overall in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection Draft on Saturday.
The 2008 OHL Priority Selection will be conducted online at www.ontariohockeyleague.com on Saturday. Fans can watch a live Webcast of the first three rounds beginning at 9:00 a.m.
McFarland is the winner the Jack Ferguson Award as the first player taken in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection Draft which will commence at 9:00 am Saturday, May 2nd.
McFarland, a right handed shooting centre scored 96 goals and 69 assists for 165 points to go along with his 176 penalty minutes in 76 games played with the GTHL champion Toronto Jr. Canadiens during the 2007-08 season.
"The Sudbury Wolves are extremely proud to be selecting John as our first overall selection on Saturday. John is extremely talented and possesses all the skills necessary to succeed at the next level. He will be a valuable addition to our young and talented team," notes Wolves' General Manager and Coach Mike Foligno. "John is a leader and we look forward to developing his skills along with our young team."
Wolves' owner Mark Burgess added "this is great news for our team, our fans and the City of Sudbury. My family is very excited about the upcoming season and what lies ahead for the future."
John will be continuing his education in Sudbury at Lasalle Secondary School and Wolves' Education Advisor Gord Ewin has spent time today with John and his family reviewing his educational goals.
