Manchester Wolves News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. (January 22, 2004) - The arenafootball2 league office announced today that Andrew Dubiellak, Rob Green, Davon Gohagon, Eric Hiltz and Thomas Selecky have been assigned to the Manchester Wolves. The five players earned their spot with the Wolves after excelling in the team's first open tryout on Jan. 17. The Wolves now have 11 players officially on their training camp roster.
"These guys earned their shot based on their performance at the tryout," Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards said. "Now that they have an opportunity it's going to be up to them to come to camp in shape and ready to compete again."
Dubiellak, a 6-3, 185-pound free agent from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, is trying to earn a spot with the Wolves as a wide receiver/defensive back. The Vancouver, BC native is a former sixth round draft choice (51st overall) of the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos (2002). Dubiellak walked on at UNLV in 1999 and played two seasons with the Rebels before graduating in 2001.
Green, the only player of the group with af2 experience, spent the 2003 season with the Cincinnati Swarm, leading the squad in tackles (56.0), interceptions (5) and pass breakups (19). The 6-1, 200-pound defensive specialist from Freeport, N.Y. finished his collegiate career at Virginia Union in 2001. As a senior, Green started all 12 games for the Panthers, recording four interceptions, 15 pass breakups and a team-leading 56 tackles.
Gohagon is a 6-3, 270-pound rookie from American International College. He'll come to camp in March competing for a spot with the Wolves on their offensive and defensive line. Gohagon, a New Britain, Conn. native, started all 11 games during his senior season of 2003 and collected 25 total tackles, three blocked field goals, one interception and five tackles for a loss. He also finished first in the conference in forced fumbles that year with eight. Gohagon began his career with the Yellowjackets as a quarterback and served as the team's backup for his first three years at school.
Hiltz, a 6-4, 300-pound free agent lineman from Wilmington, Mass., has played most recently at the semi-professional level with the Middlesex (Mass.) Mayhem of the Eastern Football League. In the 2001-02 season, Hiltz started all 22 games for the Mayhem. The af2 rookie has also played professionally for the Lynn (Mass.) Havoc in 2000.
Selecky also earned an invitation to camp and will compete in March for a roster spot at fullback/linebacker. The 5-10, 255-pounder from Claymont, DE, last played at the collegiate level in 1999 for Western Maryland College. While at Western Maryland, Selecky was a three-time Division III All-American and four-time all-conference performer. Over his career, he totaled 285 tackles, 47 tackles for loss and three interceptions.
Due to the success and demand of the Wolves first tryout, the team may hold another workout in late February or early March. Details of that tryout will be announced if and when they become available.
