Wolves face Marlies in western conference final

The Chicago Wolves will battle the Toronto Marlies in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final, beginning with Games 1 and 2 at the Allstate Arena on Fri., May 16 at 7:30 p.m., and Sun., May 18 at 3 p.m. This marks the Wolves' eighth appearance in a league's conference final in 13 years of postseason play, and the fourth in seven years since the team joined the American Hockey League in 2001-02.
Games 3 and 4 will be held at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Tue., May 20 at 6:30 p.m., and Wed., May 21 at 6:30 p.m. If necessary, the Wolves will host Game 5 at the Allstate Arena on Fri., May 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Marlies will host Game 6 at Ricoh Coliseum on Sun., May 25 at 3 p.m., and Chicago will host Game 7 on Tue., May 27 at 7 p.m.
The top-seeded Wolves reached the conference finals by defeating the Milwaukee Admirals, 4-games-to-2, in the first round, and the Rockford IceHogs, 4-games-to-3, in the second round. Toronto, the top seed in the North Division, knocked off the San Antonio Rampage, 4-games-to-3, in the first round, and the Syracuse Crunch, 4-games-to-3, in the division final.
Chicago (111 points) and Toronto (109 points) finished with the top two regular-season records in the Western Conference and have never faced off in the postseason. Each squad posted a home victory against the other during the two-game regular-season series, which includes the Wolves' 5-4 win in Rosemont on Jan. 12, and the Marlies' 8-3 win in Toronto on April 8.
