Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced today that WR/DB Tony Stallings has been assigned to the Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire 's professional arenafootball2 team.

Stallings (5-11, 200) is an af2 veteran, having spent parts of three seasons playing for the Louisville Fire. In 2005, Stallings played in six games with the Fire before signing with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL. He rushed for 51 yards and six touchdowns, while catching 11 passes for 104 yards and one score through the air. The versatile Stallings also intercepted two passes and averaged 22.5 yards on kick returns, including one for a touchdown. In 2004, Stallings rushed for 99 yards and a team-high 14 touchdowns. He hauled in 33 passes for 387 yards and five touchdowns, had an interception and racked up 630 return yards with a touchdown. In 2002, he rushed for a team-high 124 yards and nine touchdowns, while catching nine passes for 99 yards and a touchdown while gaining 797 yards in kick returns.

"Tony is a guy that has three years of af2 experience and has been very successful," said Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett. "He's going to jump in with both feet. We're hoping he can play a small role for us Friday and then a larger role down the road if we make the playoffs."

Stallings played his college ball at the University of Louisville, where he was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team as a linebacker in 1998 and rushed for a team-high 810 yards - including three 100-yard performances.

Stallings is also well known in animal circles too as he was the winner of King of Jungle 2 in 2004, a reality show similar to Survivor that appears on Animal Planet, and owns a variety of exotic animals including a pair of pythons. As a result of winning King of the Jungle 2, Stallings hosted his own television show in Australia about koalas.

The Wolves (8-7) take to Brady Sullivan Field in a game with enormous playoff implications this Friday night, against the Quad City Steamwheelers (7-8) on "Fan Appreciation Night!" in a 7:30 p.m. tilt at Verizon Wireless Arena. If Manchester wins, they qualify for the 2006 af2 playoffs for the second straight year under head coach Ben Bennett.

The first 5,000 fans will receive a free bingo card presented by Bellman's Jewelers with the chance to win a $20,000 shopping spree, and tons of other great prizes all night long during "Fan Appreciation Night!" The first ever "Manchester Wolves Lady Wolf Pack" calendar will also be given out to the first 5,000 fans in attendance as well, so make sure to get through the gates early so you don't miss out on this great event!

Before the game kicks off the Wolves will recognize this year's New Hampshire Shrine Football Team led by former Central High School Head Coach Jim Schubert. NH will take on Vermont at Plymouth State University on August 5th, and the entire NH team will be in attendance during Friday night's game.
