
WNBA Vs. Usa Basketball: the Stars at the Sun

NEW YORK, JUNE 28, 2010 - Celebrating the best female basketball talent in the world, the WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Stars at the Sun will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, July 10. ESPN will televise the game nationally on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. E.T.
In addition to the on-the-court excitement, the weekend will highlight the league's commitment to its fans and community outreach. The following is a complete listing of the festivities:
Friday, July 9
WNBA FIT CELEBRATION - Through interactive activities and positive messaging, the league will host a special WNBA FIT clinic on center court at the Mohegan Sun Arena promoting fitness, health and self-confidence among young girls and boys from the local area. WNBA and USA Basketball players will be onsite to lead the kids in special fitness stations and fun basketball skill elements including conditioning, dribbling, passing, and shooting activities.

10:00 - 11:30 a.m. E.T.
WNBA and USA Basketball Open Practice - Open practices will be held on Friday, July 9 at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The USA National Team will be the first on court at 2:45 p.m. E.T., followed by the WNBA team at 4:00 p.m. E.T. Media availability will take place between practices, beginning at 3:30 p.m. E.T. All fans are welcome to attend these practices free of charge.

WNBA Skills Competition and Three-Point Challenge -- Beginning at 2 p.m. E.T., this event will showcase two competitions: The WNBA Skills Competition and the WNBA three-point challenge. Six sharpshooters will compete in the two-round competition and the top three finishers from the first round will advance to the finals. Five shooting stations will be set up around the three-point line with five balls total: four WNBA balls, each worth one point, and one money ball worth two points. The league will announce all participants at a later date. The competitions, which begin at 2 p.m. E.T. and serve as a prelude to the Stars at the Sun, are included in the price of admission to the game.
