WNBA announces complete first round playoff schedule

NEW YORK (August 13, 2006) - With all eight teams secured and ranked for the 2006 WNBA Playoffs, the complete schedule for the first round was announced today. The playoffs will begin on Thursday, August 17.
This past weekend, Houston defeated Seattle to clinch the third spot in the West, and the Comets will tip off its series at the Toyota Center against Sacramento on Thursday, August 17 (NBA TV). Seattle will host Los Angeles on Friday, August 18 (NBA TV).
In addition, Detroit clinched the second seed in the Eastern Conference with their win today over Connecticut. Detroit will travel to Indiana for their first game on Thursday, August 17 (ESPN2). Connecticut had already clinched the top spot in the Eastern Conference and home court advantage throughout the playoffs by virtue of the League's best record and will travel to Washington for their first match-up on Friday, August 18 (NBA TV).
