WNBA and Tangerine Light up Edmonton, AB with Large-Scale WNBA-Logo Projections

In celebration of the second WNBA game in Canada, the league and Tangerine unveiled the first of three, large-scale light projections ahead of the 2024 WNBA Canada Game presented by Tangerine . Inspired by both the northern lights (aurora borealis) which the Edmonton area is known for, and the star power of the WNBA & its players, this activation utilizes projection mapping to cast light in the shape of the iconic WNBA logo and other animations.

Accompanying the iconic WNBA logo is a rotating set of custom animations incorporating colours from the league ("Fire" orange) and participating WNBA Canada Game teams: Los Angeles Sparks (purple/yellow) and Seattle Storm (green/yellow). This activation is presented in partnership with Tangerine, the WNBA's first foundational partner in Canada. The projections are a bold reflection of both the league and its growing popularity in Canada.

Brought to life in collaboration with agency The Local Collective (TLC) and Calgary-based Studio Luma, each location features a series of rotating custom motion graphics and illustrations, transforming exterior surfaces with highly engaging designs. On the day of the WNBA game (May 4), the projection will move to Rogers Place, home of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers.

LOCATIONS: Light projections will be visible from approximately 8:30 p.m. onward.

To further engage fans of all ages in Edmonton, WNBA Ball Drops presented by Tangerine will give fans in three locations the chance to pick up one of 28 free Wilson glow-in-the-dark basketballs (84 total); 28 in a nod to the upcoming 28th season, and glow-in-the-dark balls tie back to the northern lights theme. Fans onsite have an opportunity to win one of three pairs of courtside tickets to the game; merchandise will be offered as ancillary prizing. The 2024 WNBA Canada Game presented by Tangerine will feature Canadian Kia Nurse and the Los Angeles Sparks as they take on the Seattle Storm at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB on Saturday, May 4, 2024 (7:30 p.m. MT).
