New York Boulders News Release
Rockland County, NY - New York Boulders' starting pitcher Dan Wirchansky has been tabbed as a member of the Frontier League's Eastern Division All-Star Team, the league announced on Monday.
Wirchansky, a lefthander, has started 10 games for the Boulders this season and has a 3-3 record to go along with a 3.19 ERA. He has tossed two complete games, including a rain-shortened, six-inning 12-0 shutout on June 7 against the Miners in Sussex County.
In 62 1/3 innings, Wirchansky has allowed just 54 hits, while walking 18 and striking out 69. This season, batters are hitting .232 against the southpaw.
The 25-year-old Wirchansky, excelled at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY, before being grabbed by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 25th round of the 20-19 Major League Baseball Entry Draft. He also spent time with the Texas Rangers' organization before signing with the Boulders for the 2020 season.
Prior to Pace University, Wirchansky, a native of Stony Point, NY, was a standout at North Rockland High School in Thiells, NY.
The Frontier League All-Star Game is slated to be held on Wednesday, July 20 at Wild Things Park, the home of the Western Division leading Washington Wild Things, in Washington, PA.
During the game, the Frontier League All-Stars will don the jerseys of Negro League teams from their team's regions as part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Josh Gibson's induction into the baseball Hall of Fame. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game on the Wild Things' auction partner M@C's platform so that fans from all over the league can bid on and try to win their piece of history with proceeds benefitting the Josh Gibson Foundation.
