May 4, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release
CALGARY, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Portland Winterhawks forward Nic Petan is the WHL Player of the Month for April 2015.
Petan, a 1995-born forward from Delta, BC, amassed 21 points (7g-14a) to go along with a plus-eight rating in 12 games played during the month of April. Petan recorded multiple-point outings on five occasions, including four occasions in which he collected three points, to lead the Winterhawks to a 9-3-0 post-season record in April. Petan recorded at least one point in all 12 games he played in April as part of a franchise-record 17-game point streak in the 2015 WHL Playoffs.
Petan's performances in April saw him earn one first star honour, two second star selections and one third star nod. The forward's efforts also helped Portland advance to the WHL Western Conference Championship for a fifth consecutive year.
The 5'9", 175 lb forward had a productive season for the Winterhawks with 89 points (15g-74a) to go along with a plus-41 rating in regular season play. Petan recently completed his fourth WHL season with Portland and has tallied 358 points (110g-248a) in 252 career regular season contests. The Winnipeg Jets selected Petan in the second round, 43rd overall, of the 2013 NHL Draft.
Petan's accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for April.
