Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs put their best foot forward to start Sunday afternoon's game, grabbing an early 1-0 lead. However, four straight goals by the host Quebec Remparts erased Lewiston's lead, as the Remparts picked up a 4-2 win in front of 9,666 fans at Colisee Pepsi. The loss brought the MAINEiacs' 10-game winning streak to an end, leaving the streak tied for the second longest in franchise history.

For the third straight game on the road trip, the MAINEiacs got on the board first. Stefan Fournier tipped the puck to Sam Henley, who was entering the offensive zone. After giving the pass off, Fournier went straight to the net, setting up a perfect passing opportunity for Henley, who found his teammate for his second goal in as many games.

Just over two minutes later, the Remparts had an answer, tying the score at one. Martin Lefebvre gained the blueline on the left side, let a wrist shot go, and picked the top corner over Tyler Piercy's glove. Later in the frame, Quebec took their first lead of the weekend series, as Frederick Roy took a feed from Lefebvre, and buried a shot from the right side of the crease.

In the second period, the home team added to their lead with a pair of goals. Joel Champagne netted a power play goal at the 12:29 mark, knocking a loose puck in past a sprawling Piercy. Then, at the 16:50 mark, Ryan Bourque picked up a loose puck of his own, before wiring a slap shot into the top-right corner of the goal.

Lewiston got one back in the final minute of the middle stanza, as Sam Carrier scored on the rebound off of Etienne Brodeur's shot from the right circle, bringing his team within two.

Neither team was able to light the lamp in the third period, as the Remparts held on for the 4-2 win.

Louis Domingue picked up the win for Quebec, making 22 saves on 24 shots. Tyler Piercy suffered the loss in his first start of the season for Lewiston, despite stopping 25 of the 29 shots he faced.

The MAINEiacs will return to the friendly confines of the Androscoggin Bank Colisee for a pair of home games on Wednesday and Friday. Both games will start at 7:00 with the opponents being Chicoutimi and Moncton.
