
Wings Win Thriller Against Comets

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) won a thrilling game against the Missouri Comets tonight. Playing out of Hartman Arena in front of a sold out crowd of 4,695, the Wings beat the Comets with a final score of 12-10.
The first quarter was dominated by Wichita with four different Wings players scoring, giving Wichita an 8-0 run. Wings rookie Midfielder Alex Moseley struck first (assisted by Wings rookie defender Kevin Ten Eyck) just 2:58 into the game. The Wings struck again at the 6:11 mark with a nifty two pointer by Forward Alargie Jobe (assisted by Kevin Ten Eyck, his second of the night). Forward Freddy Moojen was next with a score (assisted by Victor Quiroz) 7:16 into the game, and Kevin Ten Eyck closed out scoring for the Wings in the first quarter with an unassisted two pointer. Going into the second, Wichita led Missouri 8-0.
The second quarter saw a turn in momentum as Missouri scored just 1:55 into the quarter with a John Sosa goal (assisted by Neto). The Comets struck again 4:46 into the quarter with an unassisted power play goal by Geison, cutting the Wings lead to 8-4. Wings Midfielder Jamar Beasley put some life back into the Wings on a Wings power play, scoring 8:04 into the seconds (assisted by Freddy Moojen) to put the Wings up 10-4. The last half of the second was Missouri dominated with scores coming from Comets Defender Leo Gibson (unassisted) and Forward Neto (assisted by Vahid Assadpour), both with under two minutes to play in the second.
The second quarter alone saw 10 total foul's (7 from Wichita, 3 from Missouri) as well as 5 blue cards (3 on Missouri, 2 on Wichita). Going into halftime, Wings led the Comets 10-8.
The third quarter saw a cool down in scoring, as well as tempers, as both teams failed to score and a prior chipper game calmed down.
The fourth appeared to be heading to another scoreless quarter until Missouri Forward Brian Alvarez scored a two pointer (assisted by Christiano Diaz) with just 2:46 left to play, the game was at a 10 all tie. The game remained tied until Wings Midfielder Edvin Worley scored with just under 1:30 left to play, putting the Wings up 12-10. Worley's goal, his first of the season, was enough to seal the deal as the Wings won with a final score of 12-10.
Following the game, Wings Head Coach LeBaron Hollimon spoke briefly about the game. "We couldn't ask for a better game from our boy then the one they played tonight. They showed up ready to play, and team's toughness tonight was commendable. We'll enjoy this one tonight, and look forward to our next match-up against Missouri next week."
