Wings Westervelt Added to NLL All-Star Game

Philadelphia Wings second year forward Drew Westervelt has been named to the 2009 NLL East Division All-Star Team. He is one of four alternates who will be replacing East Division All-Stars Geoff Snider, Casey Powell, Greg Peyser, and Cam Woods who are unable to play in the game on Saturday, March 9 in Denver due to injury. This will be Westervelt's first All-Star appearance.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to represent the Wings and to be named to the team with guys like Kyle [Sweeney] and Geoff [Snider]," said Westervelt.

Westervelt is currently seventh in the NLL in goal scoring with 21 goals. He also has 12 assists in his 10 games played in 2009 to go along with 56 loose balls which is seventh among NLL forwards. Westervelt has also excelled on Wings special teams opportunities with six points (3G 3A) on the powerplay and four points (1G 3A) in man down situations. The Wings acquired Westervelt in the third round (37 overall) of the 2008 NLL Entry Draft out of UMBC.

The 2009 NLL All-Star Game will be held in Denver at the Pepsi Center on Saturday, March 7 starting at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the entire weekend on the NLL Network starting Friday, March 6 at 10 p.m. ET for the NLL Skills Competition. The East and West Division All-Stars will then do battle on Saturday, March 7 starting at 9 p.m. ET. As a special feature to this year's game the 2009 Hall of Fame inductees will be coaching each of the teams. Wings great Dallas Eliuk will lead the Western Division All-Stars and Jim Veltman will be on the bench for the East Division All-Stars.

The Wings will play their next game on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. when they take on the Minnesota Swarm at the Wachovia Center.
