ST. PAUL, MN - The Philadelphia Wings (3-5) defeated the Minnesota Swarm (2-6) by a score of 18-17 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. The Wings return to the turf to meet the Buffalo Bandits in their next game on Friday, February 25 at HSBC Arena at 7:30 p.m.,"

"We hung on and got the two points we wanted to get," said Wings' General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "We had a tough weekend, but got the job done here in Minnesota this afternoon."

Minnesota started the scoring in the first quarter with two straight goals by Jamie Taylor (power play) and Chad Culp. Philadelphia's Jake Bergey put up the Wings first goal of the game at 4:37. The Swarm put up two more (Kerry Susheski, Kelly Hall) to extend their lead by three. Tom Marechek scored his first goal of the afternoon to put the Wings within two. At the end of the first quarter, Minnesota held a 4-2 lead over Philadelphia.

The Swarm scored first in the second quarter with a power play goal by Craig Conn. That goal was answered by a power play goal by the Wings' Jeff Ratcliffe at 1:58. Minnesota scored two more straight with goals by Ryan Ward and a power play goal by Ryder Bateman. The Wings pulled within three with a power play goal by Andrew Burkholder. The Swarm scored again when D'Arcy Berthiaume scored his first of the night. The Wings' Ratcliffe scored on a delayed penalty call followed by a Wings power play goal by Dan Marohl.. Philadelphia pulled within one on an unassisted goal by Bergey. At the end of the first half Wings goaltender Dallas Eliuk had 18 saves while Swarm goaltender Matt Disher had 24.

The Wings stared out the scoring first in the third quarter when Burkholder scored his second goal . The Swarm got their first of the half when Berthiaume scored his second of the game. Philadelphia tied the game at nine when Marechek scored his second of the afternoon and took the lead for the first time in the game when Thomas Hajek scored his second of the game. Bergey scored his third of the game to put the Wings up by two. Minnesota tied the game at eleven with goal by Riley Kemp and Andrew Martin. But, Philadelphia went up by one again when Bergey scored his fourth goal of the game. The Wings extended their lead by two with Marohl's second goal of the game followed by Ratcliffe's hat-trick goal. Burkholder recorded his first NLL hat-trick on a power play goal at 14:10. The Wing's extended their lead to four when Ratcliffe scored his fourth of the game. The Swarm ended the Wings five goal run when Culp scored his second of the game followed by Susheski's second of the afternoon.

Philadelphia got on the board first when Burkholder scored his fourth goal short-handed. The Wings extended their lead by five when Marc Morley scored his first of the game. The Swarm scored their first goal of the quarter when Bateman netted his second of the game. Minnesota scored two straight with Hall's second goal of the afternoon and Ward's second goal of the afternoon. Ward scored his third goal to bring the Swarm within one goal. But the Wings held on to defeat the Swarm by a score of 18-17. The Wings' Eliuk had 36 saves on the afternoon while the Swarm's Disher had 45.

Leading the Wings in scoring were Dan Marohl with nine points (2G, 7A), Jake Bergey with six points (4G, 2A), Jeff Ratcliffe with five points (4G, 1A), Tom Marechek with five points (2G, 3A), Andrew Burkholder with four goals, and Thomas Hajek and Marc Morley with one goal each.
