Wings Smashed by League-Leading Jammers

GENEVA, N.Y. - Geneva's slow start on Lyons National Bank Night did not help their case in a 6-3 loss versus league-leaders, the Jamestown Jammers. While the weather was beautiful, the offensive production for the Wings was not as Geneva did not score a single run until the bottom of the fourth inning, bringing the score to 3-1 with the Jammers on top.

Jamestown scored 2 runs in both the second and seventh innings, and 1 run each in the fourth and fifth innings. Geneva scored 1 run in the fourth, seventh and eighth innings.

Losing pitcher for the Red Wings was starter #23 Jared Sasaki (UC Davis) who pitched four full innings, allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, and had 3 strikeouts. Geneva pitcher #15 Steve Larson (Iowa Wesleyan) followed Sasaki's performance on the mound allowing 3 runs on 5 hits as well, with 2 strikeouts in three full innings. #30 Brett Sanford (Hamilton College) closed, pitching the remaining two innings.

Jamestown starting pitcher #37 Christian Young (college unknown) would go on to take the win on the mound for the Jammers, pitching six full innings while allowing 1 run on 4 hits, and 6 strikeouts. #8 Preston Yerrington (St. Anslem) followed Young's performance on the mound for the Jammers.

Key players for Geneva tonight were #31 Nick LaBrasca (Youngstown State) who had 1 hit and an RBI, #11 Justin Barr who also had an RBI, and #20 Jack Harris (San Fransisco State) who had 2 hits (1 single, 1 Double).

Geneva will play home again tomorrow night, July 27th, against the Watertown Rapids at 7:05pm.
