Wings release Roy and Hoffman
The Montgomery Wings announced Firday afternoon that they have released outfielder Jason Roy and first baseman/designated hitter Jason Hoffman.
Roy joined the team after the beginning of the season and was the everyday rightfielder. Roy struggled at the plate, hitting only .235 before being released.
Hoffman was picked up in March as a rookie free agent. He was the leadoff man for the first 15 games before going into a slump and suffering from injuries. Hoffman was tied for the team-lead in homeruns with two, but he also led the team in strikeouts with 24.
The players release came at a time when the team was making roster space for three free agents.
