
Wings Play Wheelchair Basketball in Preparation for Game Two of March Madness

PLACE: Carousel House, Belmont Ave. and N. Concourse Drive, West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
DETAILS: Philadelphia Wings players participate in a game of wheelchair basketball with members of the Magee Sixers Spokesmen Wheelchair Basketball Team in preparation for game two of the Wings "March Madness" schedule. The Wings take on the New York Saints this Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the First Union Center in the second of four consecutive March home games.
In addition to the basketball game a group of mentally disabled participants from the Carousel House will join the Spokesmen players in a lacrosse skills demonstration taught by participating Wings players: Tony Henderson, Andrew Guindon, Andrew Martin, Drew Candy, and Nick Schroeder.
The Magee Sixers Spokesmen, sponsored by Magee Rehabilitation and the Philadelphia 76ers have represented the National Wheelchair Basketball Association since 1978. In addition to numerous community events with the 76ers, the Spokesmen travel up and down the East Coast to participate in tournaments and are nine-time Mid-Atlantic Conference Champions.
The Wings are in second place in the Eastern Division of the National Lacrosse League, behind Colorado Mammoth by one half of a game. The Wings have two home games left after they host the New York Saints on Saturday at 1 p.m. including March 15 at 8 p.m. vs. the Buffalo Bandits, and March 22 at 8 p.m. vs. the Calgary Roughnecks.
March Madness packages featuring the final three regular season home games are now available by calling (215) 389-WINGS. Packages start as low as $60. Individual game tickets for Wings indoor lacrosse are $18, $23, and $27 in advance ($20, $25, and $29 on game day) and are available at the First Union Center box office and all Ticketmaster locations.
