Wings Look to Clinch Division this Saturday

The Wings look to clinch the NLL's Eastern Division and a playoff berth this Saturday when the travel to play the Rochester Knighthawks for their final regular season game this Saturday, April 12 at the Blue Cross Arena at 7:30 p.m. The Wings (8-7) are currently tied with the Mammoth (8-7) for the Eastern Division lead.

One Philadelphia victory or Colorado loss will clinch the Eastern Division Title and the third seed in the playoffs for the Wings. Philadelphia would host the NLL's 6th seed in an opening round playoff game at the First Union Center. The Mammoth travel to Toronto to meet the Rock for their final regular season at the Air Canada Centre this Sunday, April 13 at 4 p.m.

If the Wings were to lose on Saturday and Colorado wins, the Wings would still be in contention to clinch either the fifth or sixth playoff spots. The Wings could possibly finish the season with the same record as Vancouver (8-6), Calgary (8-7), Albany (7-8), and Columbus (7-8). Based on regular season match-ups, the Wings would win in a tiebreaker with Calgary and Columbus and lose in a tiebreaker to Vancouver and Albany.

WINGS WRAP-UP

The Wings were defeated by the Albany Attack on Friday, April 4 by a score of 14-13. The Attack scored six-straight goals in the third quarter to build a five-goal lead that the Wings could not overtake.

Leading scorers for the Wings were Tom Marechek with seven points (5G, 2A), Tony Henderson with two goals, Keith Cromwell, Dan Marohl, Jeff Ratcliffe, Brian Tower, and Ryan Traynor all with two points (1G, 1A), and Paul Cantabene with one goal.

RAT HITS 100

Third-year forward Jeff Ratcliffe recorded his 100th NLL regular-season career goal against Albany on Friday night. Ratcliffe has 174 points (100G, 74A) in 45 regular season career games.

WINGS WORLD

* Leading scorers for the Wings through 15 games are Tom Marechek with 82 points (39G, 43A), Jeff Ratcliffe with 61 points (32G, 29A), Keith Cromwell with 53 points (22G, 31A), and Tony Henderson with 51 points (31G, 20A).

* Forward Tom Marechek leads the team in goal scoring (39).

* Forward Tom Ryan has been out of the Wings lineup since February 22 with complications from a concussion suffered on February 8 in the game against the Rochester Knighthawks.

* Sixth-year forward Jake Bergey will miss the 2003 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee in an exhibition game against Colorado at the Pepsi Center on December 6. Bergey underwent surgery last month and will continue rehab throughout the season.
