Wings Know the Way to San Jose

The Philadelphia Wings (2-1) head to San Jose to face the Stealth this Friday, January 23 at HP Pavilion at 7:30 (PST). This is the Wings first game against the new San Jose franchise and the only meeting between the two teams this season.

SCOUTING THE STEALTH

The Stealth are 1-1 in two games against the Colorado Mammoth this season and are tied with the Calgary Roughnecks for third in the Western Conference. Forward Josh Sanderson leads the Stealth in scoring with 10 points (4G, 6A). Goaltender Rob Bladsell ranks eighth overall in the league with a 12.82 goals against average in 88:54 minutes of playing time.

HAWKS SOAR PAST WINGS IN HOME OPENER

The Rochester Knighthawks defeated the Philadelphia Wings in their home opener at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, January 17 by a score of 17-11. Forwards Jeff Ratcliffe and Ryan Ward were the Wings leading scorers in the game with four points each (3G, 1A for Ratcliffe and 2G, 2A for Ward). Goaltender Nick Schroeder saw his first game action of the season after starter Dallas Eliuk was pulled in the third quarter.

The Wings are 1-1 against the Knighthawks to date this season. They still hold first place in the Eastern Conference one-half game ahead of Rochester, Buffalo, and Toronto.

NEXT HOME GAME

The Philadelphia Wings return to the Wachovia Center on Saturday, January 31 to face the Buffalo Bandits at 8 p.m. The first 11,000 fans will receive Wings pillowcases courtesy of Buick and CN8 Sports as the Wings celebrate Philadelphia's "Philly's More Fun When You Sleep Over" campaign. All fans who wear their pajamas to the game can purchase mezzanine level tickets for just $10 (regular price $18).

THE LEADER BOARD

* Forwards Jeff Ratcliffe and Ryan Ward lead the Wings in scoring through three regular games with 12 points, Ratcliffe with eight goals and four assists and Ward with seven goals and five assists.

* Ratcliffe ranks seventh in the NLL in goals scored (8) while Ward ranks ninth (7).

* Tony Henderson and Keith Cromwell are tied for second in the league in power play goals with two each.

* Goaltender Dallas Eliuk ranks sixth in the league in goals against with a 12.16 average.

* The Wings rank fifth overall in the NLL in goals scored with an average of 13.33.

MILESTONES

* Third-year forward Keith Cromwell approaches his 100th NLL point (currently at 95). Cromwell is averaging 3.33 points per game this season.

* Goaltender Dallas Eliuk is approaching his 5,000th career save (currently at 4,816). Eliuk has averaged 35.67 saves per game in his 14-year season.

* Fourth-year forward Jeff Ratcliffe is approaching his 200th career point (currently at 192). Ratcliffe has averaged four points per game this season.

The Wings revised their 2004 television schedule to incorporate the 2004 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game in Colorado. The Wings have four remaining televised games which is as follows:

The city's best Saturday night party returns with the Broad Street Bash.
