The Philadelphia Wings will commence their 25th anniversary National Lacrosse League season on Saturday, January 8 when they host the Boston Blazers at the Wells Fargo Center at 7 p.m. The Wings will celebrate their 25th anniversary season by welcoming back many of their former players and introducing them throughout the game.

About the Rival Blazers:

Boston

finished the 2010 NLL season with eight wins and eight losses qualifying them for the playoffs where the lost to Orlando 12-11. New comers to the Blazers roster include the seven-time All-star and 2010 NLL MVP Casey Powell. Also new is Josh Sanderson, formerly of the Calgary Roughnecks, who led the NLL in points - 104 (34 goals, 67 loose balls) and Kyle Rubisch, Boston's second overall draft pick in the 2010 entry draft. Blazers Coach Matt Sawyer, a former Assistant Coach for the Toronto Rock, will be making his coaching debut. Sawyer was named head couch last month when he took over for Tom Ryan.

About the Hometown Wings:

The Philadelphia Wings are hungry for redemption after finishing the 2010 season with five wins and eleven losses. Hoping to start the 2011 season off right is the NLL single-season goal-scoring record holder, Athan Iannuccci, who returns to the Wings roster from the injured reserve list. Joining Iannucci on the field will be Wings Capitan and defensive standout Taylor Wray, Assistant Captains Ryan Boyle and Shawn Nadelen, as wells as forward Bill McGlone who ended the 2010 NLL season with 35 points (19 goals, 16 assists) and 61 loose balls and 2010 Wings leading scorer Drew Westervelt who finished the season with 72 points (32 goals, 40 assists) and 87 loose balls.

"We are ready to go. I am looking forward to seeing our guys compete on Saturday against a very, very good Boston team," said Head Coach John Tucker

"We are excited to start the season this weekend in Philly," said Blazers head Coach Matt Sawyer. "We know it will be a tough challenge a conference game on the road and look forward to it."
