Wings Fall 15-10 to Swarm, Face Pivotal Finale Versus

April 21, 2012 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings lost to the Minnesota Swarm 15-10 at Xcel Energy Center tonight. The team now must win their final game - at Rochester on Saturday, April 28 - to guarantee a home playoff contest. The Wings have already clinched a playoff spot, but must win their final home game to guarantee home field advantage in the first round.

The Wings jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the first quarter but allowed the Swarm to climb back into the game with five unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead which Minnesota would never relinquish.

While the Wings lost to Minnesota, the Rochester Knighthawks also lost to the Buffalo Bandits setting up an all-important season finale next Saturday night in Rochester. The winner of that game will host a round one playoff game.

The Wings were led by forward Dan Dawson who tallied five goals and one assist, tying the single-season record of 100 points in a season set by former Wings forward Athan Iannucci. Currently Dawson has 100 points in the 2012 season with 23 goals and 77 assists.

During the 2012 season the Wings have lost to the Knighthawks both at home and on the road, but can avenge those defeats with a win next Saturday at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. With a win Philadelphia would secure their first home game since 2002.

The Wings will take on the Knighthawks on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

The Philadelphia Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings L.P., whose principal owners are Russ Cline, Chris Fritz and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, sponsorship and publicity arm of the Wings.
