Homestand Recap:
7.12-7.17- The Wind Surge swept an opponent for the first time in team history as they won six straight against the Arkansas Travelers. Wind Surge catcher/infielder Chris Williams finished the series with 6 HR and 20 RBIs.
7.12 - Wind Surge pitcher Sawyer Gipson-Long joined Wind Surge staff members at the Wichita Public Library to read with kids and film cross-promotional commercials.
7.15- Wind Surge pitcher Louie Varland, and outfielder Leobaldo Cabrera visited the campers at the Farha Sports camp.
7.15- The Wind Surge and the City of Wichita announced the opening of the Wichita Baseball Museum.
7.16 - Former Wind Surge Outfielder Matt Wallner, homered in the MLB Futures Game.
7.17- Wind Surge infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand, was the first Wind Surge player in history to hit for the cycle. He was also named the Twins' Organization Minor League Player of the Week. The Wind Surge hosted the second Sunflower Summer event.
Upcoming Events & Promotions:
7.22-7.24 - After a four-day break for the MLB All-Star Game in Los Angeles, the Wind Surge will travel to Tulsa for a three-game series against the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A Affiliate of the Dodgers.
7.21 - Wind Surge staff members will host an informational tour for a group of students.
7.22 - Riverfront Stadium will host Pitch, Hit, and Run for the first time. Wind Surge staff will help run the event from 6-8 PM. Kids ages 7 to 14 who play baseball or softball are encouraged to sign up to participate. The event is free and open to the public.
7.23 - River Clean-Up Event - all volunteers are welcome as we work together to keep the Arkansas River clean. Volunteers can check in on the South side of the Stadium at the Maple Street gate. The event will start at 9 am and will wrap up at 11 am. Participants will receive their complimentary ticket vouchers at the conclusion of the event.
7.26-7.31 - The Wind Surge will host the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals for a six-game homestand. Make your plans now to join us as Riverfront Stadium during the last homestand in July.
