
Winchester Receives UIF Defensive Player of the Week "Honorable Mention"

The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that linebacker John Winchester has received honorable mention honors as UIF Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Rock River Raptors in Week One. Winchester tallied 8.5 tackles including a league leading 4 tackles for a loss in the 2006 opening night match-up. Winchester was making his professional debut with the BlueCats, and tied the team single game record for tackles for loss in his first game with the team.
The UIF Defensive Player of the Week for Week One was awarded to Lewis Carter from Fort Wayne. The Offensive Player of the Week was Bloomington quarterback Dusty Burk. Dillon Pieffer from Rock River received the league's Special Teams Player of the Week honor.
Last season, Evansville BlueCats players received UIF Player of the Week honors a record 8 times. No other team in the UIF had more Player of the Week awards than Evansville.
This Sunday, John Winchester the BlueCats will take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds in Wheeling, West Virginia. Kickoff for Sunday's game is scheduled for 5:30pm Evansville time.
