UIF Announces Week One Players of the Week

Omaha, NE-Week 1 of United Indoor Football went off with a bang and had several players put together all-star caliber performances. A few stood out above the rest though. Dusty Burk from the Bloomington Extreme was named Offensive Player of the Week, Carter Lewis for the Ft. Wayne Freedom too the Defensive award and Dillon Pieffer was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week for the Rock River Raptors.
Dusty Burk put together a tremendous second half this past Saturday to come from behind and beat the Peoria Rough Riders in a 44-40 victory in Peoria. Burk led a surge that consisted of 4 of his 5 touchdown throws coming in the second half to give the Extreme the franchises first victory. Burk connected on 15 of 22 passes for 185 yards (most in Week 1) and 5 TD's. Dusty will have the chance to display his talent in front of the home crowd this weekend as the Extreme welcome the Ft. Wayne Freedom for Week 2 action as he will match-up against Week 1 Defensive Player of the Week, Carter Lewis.
Carter Lewis of the Ft. Wayne Freedom led his defense to a victory over last season's Championship Runner-up, the Sioux City Bandits. Lewis helped hold the Bandits to 187 net offensive yards and only 23 points. In his effort, he had 9 solo tackles and 3 assisted for 10.5 total, including one tackle for a loss.
Giving his team 15 total points in route to a victory was kicker, Dillon Pieffer, of the Rock River Raptors. Pieffer kicked his way to a 47-36 victory over the Evansville BlueCats last Saturday. He connected on 4-7 field goal attempts, including a league leading 42-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Pieffer also hit 3 PAT's.
