East Texas PumpJacks News Release
What a show!
Wednesday night's Balloons, Baseball & Root Beer event at Historic Driller Park was one fans will be talking about for quite some time. The East Texas Pump Jacks drew the largest home crowd in team history, with nearly two thousand people descending on Driller Park. Even more fans were outside in the park, mingling with pilots from the Great Texas Balloon Race.
As exciting as the evening was, the season- and the playoff race- must go on. The Pump Jacks headed down to Brazos Valley for a two-game set against the Bombers. Thursday's contest was postponed because of rain, so the two teams will begin a doubleheader Friday beginning at 6:15 p.m. You can follow all the action online at Pump Jacks TV.
The Jacks will return home Saturday and Sunday for the Driller Park end of the home-and-home series, looking to secure a playoff spot in the final week of the season. The Pump Jacks are in the driver's seat in the race for the final TCL playoff spot, holding a one and a half game lead over the Texas Marshals.
A special Pump Jacks tradition continues on Saturday with Shirt Off Our Back Night, presented by Republic Services and Priority Energy Services. The players and the coaches will be wearing special jerseys just for the occasion, and at the end of the night, fans have the chance to take them home! Some of the jerseys will be given away by a random drawing, so be sure to sign up as you enter the ballpark. The remainder of the jerseys will be offered in a silent auction.
For the first time in five years, the Shirt Off Our Back jerseys will be green! Come out to Driller Park to not only see one of these special jerseys, but maybe even go home with one! This is your chance to win a one-of-a-kind item, a jersey from a player who could one day turn out to be a big league star.
The homestand wraps up on Sunday with the return of Family Night, presented by the Longview News-Journal. On Family Night, four Grandstand tickets are just $10, and fans can add four meals for another $15. That's right, four tickets for $10, or four tickets and four meals for only $25. Bring your family, your friends, or your co-workers, but don't miss Family Night presented by the Longview News-Journal.
Following a day off on Monday, the Pump Jacks travel to Dallas to play a pivotal doubleheader against the Marshals. The Marshals won on Thursday, inching them closer in the playoff race as the season enters its final week.
As a result of the Tuesday doubleheader, the Jacks will have Wednesday off before returning home for the final series of the regular season, against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
