Benton Harbor, MI. - Make it two in a row for the Cardiac Admirals, topping Scranton 113-111 in front of a small crowd of 350 at Farnum Gymnasium, Sunday afternoon.
Lake Michigan was down 18 midway through the second quarter but managed to cut the lead to 64-54, despite 11 turnovers. The Admirals went on a 13-4 run, pulling within four with 1:17 left in the third quarter behind Odgra Bobo's nine points.
Romain Martin, playing with five fouls, caught fire for the Admirals scoring 13 of his game high 21 points in the fourth quarter. Martin hit both free throws to pull ahead of Scranton with 7:22 left making the score 93-92.
Scranton tied the game at 106 with 1:15 left. With the game going back and forth, Romain Martin put Lake Michigan back up 109-108. With :08 seconds showing, Martin added two free throws and again with 2.2 seconds, put the Admirals up 113-108.
Former Charleston Gunner, Lionel Armstead, shot a deep three with no time left on the clock to end the game 113-111.
Martin had 21 for the Admirals followed by Tyc Snow with 20, Bobo 19, and Shagari Alleyne with 16.
The Steamers had six players in double figures led by Tyler Bullock's 20 points. Darrien Griffin had 19, Matt Gorman had a double double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Chris Commons 18 and Kyle Robbins had 11.
Admirals shot 49.4% against Scranton's 50.5% from the field but the difference was free throws. Lake Michigan hit 21 of 26 while the Steamers settled for 11 of 16.
Even though there was a small crowd Sunday, there were some celebrities in the crowd, NBA player Wilson Chandler and NFL player Joique Bell.
Next home game the Lake Michigan Admirals will host the Rochester RazorSharks (14-1) Saturday at Lake Michigan Catholic at 6:00pm.
