Wilmington, NC - With playoff anticipations still within reach, the Wilmington Hammerheads are scheduled to host the Dayton Dutch Lions at Legion Stadium on Friday, August 9, for their first of three final matches of the regular season.
The Hammerheads picked up six points in the league standings over the weekend following a 2-1 victory over the Charleston Battery at Legion Stadium and a 1-0 sweep on the road in Dayton.
Wilmington forward Kyle Greig was recently named to the USL PRO Team of the Week for Week 20 after scoring goals during both of the Charleston and Dayton matches. Greig has tallied five goals overall this season with the Hammerheads, placing him within one goal of the team's leading goal scorer this year, Daniel Steres. Wilmington goalkeeper Philip Tuttle was also chosen to the Team of the Week for his six-save shutout in Dayton.
The Hammerheads must win their final three matches of the regular season to have a chance at making it into the playoffs; however the odds must be simultaneously against those few teams that currently hold the few ranks above Wilmington to make way. The top eight USL PRO teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for playoffs. Wilmington currently sits in the tenth position.
Wilmington is scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Wednesday, August 14 and Antigua Barracuda FC on Saturday, August 17 at Legion Stadium to conclude their regular season.

Gates to Legion Stadium open at 6:00 p.m. and kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m..
