Eagles Return Home for Regular Season Home Finale

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles will return home to Queens Sports Complex to host Antigua Barracuda FC in their regular season home finale on Saturday, August 10th at 7 pm. Charlotte kept itself in the race for hosting a home playoff game with a 2-1 win in Harrisburg on Wednesay night.

On a rainy night in Harrisburg, Pa the Charlotte Eagles took home a crucial three points with a 2-1 victory over the City Islanders. Cristhian Hernandez opened the scoring for the hosts in the 6th minute, much like he did in the first meeting between the teams. However, unlike the 4-0 City Islanders victory on June 1st, Charlotte responded with two first half goals. Christian Ramirez scored to tie the game in the 27th minute off of a Nick Courtney feed. Ramirez found his way back on the score sheet for the first time since the Dayton Dutch Lions game on June 28th. Jorge Herrera scored his eighth goal of the season in the 38th minute as Christian Ramirez found the Colombian in front of goal to give the Eagles the lead. Harrisburg had a chance late in the game to earn a point but Matt Bahner's shot hit the post.

Wednesday nights victory moves the Eagles into 5th place in the USL PRO standings, two points behind Charleston for 4th place. The top four teams at the end of the year will host a playoff game.

Antigua Barracuda FC come into Saturday's game in scearch of their first victory of the season. Head Coach Adrian Whitbread took over in mid-June after being an assistant coach with the Puerto Rico Islanders. A native of Epping, England, Whitbread brings extensive coaching experience within Caribbean soccer to the Barracudas. After beginning his coaching career in England as an assistant coach for clubs including Leicester City, Whitbread was hired as an assistant coach to Colin Clarke for the Puerto Rico Islanders in 2008. Upon Clarke's departure, Whitbread became the Islanders' head coach in 2012, leading the side to a third-place finish in the league. Whitbread has seen his club lose by two goals or less in seven of his 12 games in charge, including three 1-0 losses.

Forwards Tamorley Thomas, four goals, and Orlando Mitchum, two goals, lead the Barracuda attack while goalkeeper Molvin James has faced 188 shots in 17 games making 87 saves. 12 players from Antigua Barracuda FC also play for the Antigua and Barbuda National Team.

Saturday's game will also be Camper Appreciation Night, any 2013 Eagles camper that wears their 2013 camp t-shirt will be allowed to participate. Camper Appreciation Night will include a halftime game, team photo with the 2013 Eagles and a camper parade led by Winger off the field and through the stands!
