Wilmington Aims for Return Match Victory

Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Hammerheads travel north this weekend for a return match on Sunday, June 30 against the New York Red Bulls Reserves at Red Bull Arena. The match is set to kick off at 4:30 p.m. following the Major League Soccer contest between the New York Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo.

The Hammerheads hosted the New York Red Bulls Reserves at Legion Stadium two weeks prior on Saturday, June 15 in front of the largest crowd Wilmington has season so far this season. Wilmington midfielder Daniel Steres scored the lone goal of the night off a Gareth Evans assist to close the 1-0 victory.

Wilmington has yet to win any regular season matches on the road and they are looking to move up the league standings to claim a slot that will put them in the run for playoffs come August. However, the Hammerheads have finished increasing stronger that last three matches with one win at Legion, and two ties - one being on the road in Richmond versus the Kickers.

Wilmington's match on Sunday versus New York will be streamed live from Red Bull Arena. The link and website streaming the match will be released amid future announcements.

The Wilmington Hammerheads will host the Orlando City Soccer Club on Wednesday, July 3 following their return from the New York Red Bulls Reserves. Shortly after the final whistle, there will be a post-game fireworks display from the backfield of Legion Stadium.
