Williams, Albers Can-Am Players of the Week

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Brockton INF Shawn Williams and Quebec LHP Andrew Albers have been named the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League.
Williams batted .559 on the week, knocking 19 hits in 34 at-bats. He recorded a hit in every game he played and managed to compile three four-hit games over the stretch. Nine of his hits fell for extra bases, including four home runs, propelling Brockton to a 6-1 record on the week. The 26-year-old collected 12 RBI and improved his batting average on the season to .436 in 78 at-bats. Williams, the son of former Major League manager Jimy Williams, spent four years in the Tampa Bay Rays' minor league system.
Albers was recognized as the Can-Am League Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, having previously been honored for his pitching in the week ending August 1. Quebec's closer appeared in three games on the week and recorded saves in each appearance. He struck out six and allowed just two hits on no walks in five innings of work. On the season, he improved to 2-0 with a 0.74 ERA and 14 saves. The 24-year-old southpaw has struck out more batters (50) than innings pitched (49) on the year.
