Wilkes-Barre tops Albany 55-37

Albany, N.Y., April 15, 2005 – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers held the Albany Conquest to just one second half touchdown en route to a 55-37 arenafootball2 East Division victory in front of 5,588 fans at Pepsi Arena on Friday evening in Albany, N.Y.

Wilkes-Barre QB Kyle Rowley, who earned Offensive Player of the Game honors, was 22-of-27 passing for 266 yards with seven TD passes. Four of those TD passes came in second half as Wilkes-Barre (3-0) pulled away from Albany (0-2), who had led 30-28 at halftime.

The Conquest jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage when WR/DB Donte Wells fell on a Wilkes-Barre fumble in the endzone on the game's opening kickoff. Albany then went ahead 14-0 at the end of the first quarter on QB D. Bryant' s 3-yard TD pass to WR/DB Cy Butler.

Wilkes-Barre battled back in the second quarter and went ahead 28-27 with 46 seconds remaining in the half, but a 22-yard field goal by Marc Samuel put Albany ahead at the break.

In the second half, Wilkes-Barre scored three consecutive touchdowns going ahead 48-30 on a Rowley 14-yard pass to WR/DB Rocco Forgione.
