WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The rivalry came to life in Game 3 of the Atlantic Division Final between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Hershey Bears, as the Penguins lost 5-2 on Saturday night.

The Penguins and Bears combined for 64 total penalty minutes and plenty of power play opportunities for both sides, but it was the three-goal margin the Bears built for themselves in the first two periods that proved to be the difference as they took a 2-1 lead in the series.

Dustin Gazley opened the scoring with just 1:20 remaining in the first period.

Chris Bourque, the AHL's leading scorer in the regular season, snapped his three-game pointless streak by blasting a slapshot into the Penguins' net two seconds into the Bears' sixth power play of the game at 12:32 of the second period, putting the Bears up, 2-0.

One minute and 36 seconds after Bourque's goal, Jakub Vrána struck for Hershey to take a 3-0 lead.

Bourque scored his second of the night 32 seconds into the third period, giving the Bears a short-lived 4-0 advantage until Niclas Andersén scored his first of the postseason 30 seconds later. Both of those goals came while the two teams were skating four-on-four.

Hershey quickly reestablished its four-goal lead with a Liam O'Brien goal coming 1:50 after Andersén's tally, making it 5-1.

Jake Guentzel converted on a five-on-three power play for the Penguins, bringing the game to a 5-2 score at 8:52 of the third.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finished the game one-for-nine on the man advantage, while Hershey went one-for-eight.

Justin Peters recorded 21 saves in the win for the Bears. Casey DeSmith made 17 on 22 shots before being replaced in net by Tristan Jarry. Jarry stopped all five shots turned his way in his first action in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Game 4 of the Atlantic Division Final between the Penguins and Bears is Monday, May 9 at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Monday's contest is a Kids Get in Free game, for which children age 14 and under can see the Penguins take on the Bears free of charge with the purchase of an adult ticket.
