Houston Aeros News Release
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Hockey League's (NHL) Minnesota Wild announced today that the organization will hold a development camp for team prospects at Xcel Energy Center July 25-31. Nine of the 29 players scheduled to attend played for the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League in the 2005-06 season.
"This is a great opportunity for players to continue their development and help them realize the dedication that is required to make it to the NHL," said Assistant General Manager/Player Personnel Tom Thompson.
The seven-day camp will focus on the development of the organization's top young prospects in both on-ice and off-ice settings. Minnesota Wild coaches Mike Ramsey, Mario Tremblay and Bob Mason, along with Houston Aeros coaches Rob Daum and Matt Shaw, will lead the on-ice sessions. The prospects will also participate in daily strength and conditioning education sessions and receive nutritional instruction as well.
Forwards Ryan Hamilton, Danny Irmen, Peter Olvecky, Benoit Pouliot and Roman Voloshenko, defensemen Shawn Belle, Clayton Stoner and A.J. Thelen and goalie Miroslav Kopriva each played at least one regular season or playoff game with Houston. Many more at the camp could see time with the Aeros in 2006-07.
