Wildcatters Travel To Face Aces in Preseason

June 27, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (June 27, 2007) - The Texas Wildcatters will travel to Anchorage, Alaska to play two preseason games versus the Alaska Aces at Sullivan Arena on October 10 and 11. Game time each night will be 10:15pm CDT.

The trip will be the Wildcatters' first to Alaska and the first time in the team's five-year history they will face the Aces.

Head Coach Malcolm Cameron said Friday that a preseason trip of this nature can be very helpful to a team that is just getting to know each other. "This will be a great team builder for us. Get the boys on the road and experience a different culture than what most of them are accustomed to. Trips like this have a significant impact on team chemistry early in the year."

The preseason games will follow a four-day training camp at Ford Arena in Beaumont taking place October 5-8.

Though it will not be Cameron's first trip to Alaska, he hopes that this one will mark the beginning of a championship season for the 07-08 Wildcatters. "It's a tremendous show of commitment from our ownership, and we are very excited to start our journey for the 2008 Kelly Cup in this manner."

The 25 teams include the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals.
