Wildcats Raise $80,540 for CMN

February 12, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

The Wichita Falls Wildcats hosted their annual "Jersey Off Our Back" Auction this past Saturday, February 9 and raised a record-breaking $80,540. The players wore a special events jersey over the weekend and immediately following Saturday's game, the jerseys were auctioned off to fans with all proceeds benefiting Children's Miracle Network. The auction has been held every year since the Wildcats inaugural season in 2004-2005. The first year the team raised $41,700, with the most expensive jersey going for $5,500. On February 17, 2006 for the second annual CMN auction, the Wildcats raised $54,500 in a single night. Last year, the Wildcats organization, with the help of their generous fans, was able to raise $76,200. Craze E. Cats jersey (the Wildcats mascot) was purchased for $18,000, smashing the record for the price of a CMN jersey. The next highest jersey sold for $10,000. In only four years, Wildcats fans have helped to achieve what most would have thought impossible; the Wildcats have been able to double their donation dollars to Children's Miracle Network. This year Craze E. Cat once again broke the record, with her jersey selling for $23,000 to help boost the grand total to over $80,000. Wildcats fans here in the Wichita Falls area go above and beyond to support this cause and every year it gets better and better. With new coaches, and only five returning players from last year's roster, everyone thought last years number would be tough to beat. This year, we were able to raise more money in a single night that the NHL did in their two week long auction of the NHL team captain's jerseys. On behalf of the Wildcats organization, we would like to thank all those individuals that made this auction the most successful one yet. We couldn't have done it without those individuals who opened up their hearts and pocket books.

100% of the money raised stays right here in Texoma at United Regional Health Care System and is used to purchase state-of-the-art pediatric equipment in the nursery, pediatric department, labor & delivery department, intensive care unit, emergency department, surgery, and respiratory care.
