Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Fresh off back-to-back wins against the Kenai River Brown Nears, rookie goaltender Chase Munroe was honored as the North American Hockey League's South Division Star of the Week in the Easton Divisional Stars of the Week. It is the first such award of Munroe's career.
Munroe posted a season-high 38 saves on Friday night to lead Wichita Falls to a 3-2 victory, before equaling that save total the next night in the Wildcats' 2-1 shootout victory. He also stopped all five shooters he faced in Saturday's shootout.
The Naperville, Ill.-native is now 7-4-2 with a 2.04 goals against average and .924 save percentage in 13 games played this season, and has also posted two shutouts. He is the second Wildcat to garner weekly honors this season, after Jordan Jancze was tabbed as the South Division's Star of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29.
The Wildcats conclude their Alaskan road trip this weekend when they travel to Fairbanks to take on the Ice Dogs for a two-game set, beginning Friday at 10:30 p.m.
