
Michigan Wins Tough Contest against Soo, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Michigan Warriors escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Soo Eagles.
Michigan gained the winning advantage on a goal by Colin Larkin 12:38 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.
Zack Szajner had two goals to lead the Warriors to victory. Szajner found the back of the net 8:31 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 14:25 into the third to make the score 4-2 Michigan.
Michigan's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Soo power plays. By firing 40 shots on goal, the Warriors exceeded the 26.6 shots they average per game this year.
Michigan also got points from AJ Marcinek, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Michigan received assists from Jon Farkas, who had two and Mitchell Wedding, Scott Cuthrell, Nick Mosher, Connor Lyons, and Joshua Shellman, who contributed one a piece.
Soo was helped by Mike Sabatini, who tallied one goal. Sabatini scored 6:16 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Soo. Bruno Birzitis provided the assist. Soo also got a goal from Sandis Zolmanis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were AJ Jarosz, Matthew Montemurro, and Jeremy Norway, who each chipped in one.
Michigan's Dillion Kelley stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Warriors totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Skoog Paige rejected 36 shots on goal for the Eagles. Soo ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
