The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) has signed a new quarterback that will compete for the starting job for the 2011 season. The Wild signed indoor football rookie Alex Rouse (pronounced Rous). Rouse played three seasons at NCAA Division II Carson Newman College before playing last season in a professional league in Finland.

Rouse played for the Seinajoki Crocodiles in the Finnish Maple League in the summer of 2010. He led the Crocodiles to their first league title game in over 20 years. Rouse passed for 26 touchdowns and was runner-up in the Import of the Year voting.

Rouse's breakout year at Carson Newman was in 2006 when he threw for 1,036 yards and 11 touchdowns. Rouse carried the ball 96 times for 313 yards and two scores. He was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference team as the Eagles finished 10-1 on the season. The Maryville, TN native's final year was in 2007 when he finished with the second highest pass efficiency rating in NCAA history at 205.72.

As a freshman in 2005, Rouse started four games for the Eagles and led the team to a 4-0 record in those contests. He was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year for his efforts.
