Wichita Wild News Release
When the Wichita Wild season ended in early July a group of Wild players embarked on a new challenge: coaching at the high school and college level. Four Wild players took positions on local coaching staffs where they will teach skills and get experience in a field that may become their career after their playing days are over.
Two players took jobs at Wichita East High School and have helped the Aces to a 2-0 start. Wild wide receiver Clinton Solomon coaches receivers and linebacker/safety Chris Patterson is a defensive back coach. Wild Assistant Coach Paul Savage is also on the staff at East and coaches the defensive line for the Aces.
On the staff at Burrton High School is Wild kicker Dylan Pohlman. Pohlman coaches the defensive backs. Wild defensive lineman Scott Moore is on the staff at Andover Middle School as Defensive Coordinator. Moore also coaches offensive and defensive line for the Trojans Middle School squad who are 2-0 on the season.
At the collegiate level, Bethel College in Newton employs two former Threshers that were Wild rookies in 2010. Linebacker Brandon Kaufman and defensive lineman James McCartney are both defensive assistants for the Threshers.
Two other Wild assistant coaches also roam the sideline at the high school and collegiate level. Troy Black is a defensive assistant at Collegiate High School where the Spartans are 2-0. Black has been on the Spartans staff for the past seven seasons. Wild assistant Morris Lolar is in his 4th season at Friends University in Wichita. Lolar previously coached at Wichita East, Wichita North, and Wichita Northwest High Schools.
